Paco Rabanne

During the presentation of his first collection, at the end of 1964, he separated metal from its main function and used it to dress the Amazons of women’s liberation. On the catwalk, which had until that moment been dominated by blondes, superb fashion models with black skin walked to the beat of the music. Never before seen in that era, this was a true scandal. Half of the audience left the hall, surprised and offended. The others hailed the arrival of novelty to the world of traditional fashion. He, impervious to such reactions, returned to his workshop to forge the fashion of the future. Calandre, his signature perfume, has spread his fragrances to all continents since 1969.

However, his boldness and his originality come as no surprise if one considers that Paco Rabanne, the man who played the role of Prometheus in how people understood fashion, was born under the sign of the herald of novelty, Aquarius. The questions why did he leave anonymity to provoke a scandal at the end of 1964 and how did his perfume Calandre become known globally in 1969 are perhaps more fascinating. Some would perhaps say that scandal is the easiest way to attract attention in the already established world of fashion. Others would perhaps find the reason behind this in the sexual revolution of the nineteen-sixties, when people were carefree, optimistic about the future, and wanted to see and try everything. Others still would probably proclaim advertising to be at fault. However, the stars say another thing. 1964More precisely, over the course of 1964, Saturn, the enforcer of destiny, touched Paco Rabanne’s natal Saturn while in its transit in the house of reputation and career (10th). In this manner, it completed one of its cycles and came to settle the score. At such times, it punishes those who have infringed upon Universal Laws and rewards those who have respected them. Paco Rabanne was obviously among the latter. However, when Saturn transits through the house of reputation, the individual becomes remembered for some scandal, all the more reason that at the end of 1964, Saturn in transit touched his natal Sun, symbol of image and appearance. On the other hand, in 1969, Jupiter, planet of happiness, the original Uranus and explosive Pluto transited his house of creativity (5th). 1969In November 69, Jupiter in transit activated his natal Jupiter and his grand Air trine. For its part, the North Node in transit activated his natal Mercury, protector of communication and master of his horoscope, in the house of career. This is why the Calandre perfume went off with a real bang and opened a new page of his career.

Nevertheless, let us start from the beginning.

Paco Rabanne, whose real name is Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo, was born on February 18 1943 in the village of Pasajes de San Pedro, in the Spanish Basque region. Some say that the Basque people are the descendants of the inhabitants of Atlantis.

He was born under the sign of original Aquarius, his ascendant located in the sign of Gemini, which possesses encyclopedic knowledge, and his Moon in the sign of explorer Aries. At first glance, his natal chart reveals that he is a man sent to Earth to accomplish a particular mission. However, it also reveals that Destiny would not pamper him, much to the contrary, it would reinforce his faith in God through the tragic events of his life. In fact, this is the destiny of nearly all great men who have lived on Earth. Proof of this lies in the grand Air trine in his horoscope, the first angle of which is found in the Ascendant. In the second angle, at the Zenith, lies Saturn, the professor, in conjunction with the North Node, the symbol of karma. In the third angle, Jupiter, protector of religion, is found in the house of love and creativity (5th). This indicates that his karmic task would be to abandon egoist terrestrial love to prove his love for all of humanity, translating the divine word into human terms. All the more reason that the Moon, symbol of the soul, is in close relation to Uranus, which defies the times and constitutes a particular antenna to pick up information amassed by Universal Reason. This indicates that Paco Rabanne could have access to information that was invisible to ordinary people, only if he was able to control his bizarre sexual impulses.

He says that he had an ordinary childhood. However, the facts show that childhood was the most stressful and uncertain period of his life. His maternal grandfather was one of the first socialists killed by the Civil Guard. His parents were also proponents of socialist ideas. His father even commanded the republican forces during the Spanish civil war and battled against Franco’s partisans. Thus, during his earliest years, Paco Rabanne knew the cruelty of war, looked death in its face, and survived the bombing of Guernica as well as the death of his father, who was shot in 1939. 1939In fact, in 1939, Saturn in transit crossed his natal Uranus, ruler of his sign and of the house of the father (10th), as well as his natal Moon, symbol of feelings. In such moments, Saturn creates problems with the goal of teaching us to not attach our souls to earthly things. With regard to this period of his life, Paco Rabanne wrote in his book Journey:

“As I was not raised in a sheltered environment, I was surprisingly mature for my age, like all children of war. I was already an adult when I was five years old.”

To protect herself and her four children from the anger of Franco, Paco Rabanne’s mother escaped to France, crossing the snowy Pyrenees on foot. After great difficulty, the family arrived and was put up in the house of a French socialist. Only three months later, German tanks occupied half of eastern France and the family once again lived in fear, somewhat outside of the law. Paco Rabanne says that during this period of his childhood, even though he had a mother, a grandmother, two sisters and a brother, he felt different and alone:

“I was in love with wind. The harshness of nature hypnotized me, the elements strengthened my own energy. I would remain seated for hours on the beach, discovering the sound of the waves and my inner voice.”

He continues:

“When I was a child, I had a hard time falling asleep and because of this I counted my heartbeats, my breaths in and my breaths out. Thus, spontaneously, when I was seven years old, I took my first astral voyage. Somewhere up there I met twenty-four elders who showed me the moment of my current incarnation, as well as my past reincarnations. I know that people will laugh at this, but it doesn’t matter.”

Astrology confirms his words, as indicated by the 29th degree angle of Aquarius in which his Sun is found, which produces seers and other people interested in astrology and perception beyond the five senses. Moreover, many doctors and scientists who have studied the left and right hemispheres of the brain affirm that children who have experienced a major shock in their first ten years often naturally become clairvoyants.

While Paco Rabanne studied architecture in Paris, under the guidance of Auguste Perret who worked with iron and concrete, he devoted more and more of his time to the occult sciences, studying the history of magic, clairvoyance, spiritualism, the history of religions, and anything else that could constitute a link to the unknown. During this time he made a living by creating belts, costume jewelry, purses, and many buttons. He created these with unusual materials. For example, vermicelli or coffee beans glued to a piece of plastic covered in paint. He sold his creations to Balenciaga, Givenchy, Jacques Griffe, Yves Saint Laurent, and Christian Dior. Rabanne’s change of heart from architecture to fashion does not come as a surprise if one considers that before becoming involved in political activities, his mother worked in Spain as the right hand of the great creator Cristobal Balenciaga. His wise mother was actually his first advisor when it came to fashion. She told him the most important, that he could touch the limits of creation, but he never had any right, in any way, to humiliate women.

The stars also indicate that Paco Rabanne found it easy to communicate with women, who would always help him, and that he would earn enormous fortunes thanks to their help. The proof in his chart is provided by the powerful embrace of the Moon, symbol of women, and original Uranus, in the house of friends and help provided by others (11th), as well as powerful Pluto located in the house of money (2nd). This is very similar to the visions of the great Parisian seer Belline, whom Rabanne visited during his school years, when he dreamed of becoming a great architect. “You will work surrounded by women... And women will create your wealth.” he then said. This prediction came true thirteen years later. Paco Rabanne created his haute couture collection as an act of provocation, with the hope of jostling the apathy of fashion and sparking a more rapid modernization. A rebel like all born under Aquarius, he was horrified by old and stagnant things and could not stand, during the sixties, to create fashion similar to that created during the thirties.

Moreover, observing fashion over the course of different centuries and periods, studying the historic and economic events of these eras, he drew the following conclusion: fashion is not just a way of dressing, it also has prophetic attributes. Thus, Rabanne discovered that short skirts are the sign of a flourishing economy, while women return to long skirts when difficulties are on the horizon. According to Rabanne, the straight skirt is a precursory sign to sexual freedom while a tight belt around the midsection, which separates the sex from the brain, is the sign of a puritanical era. Shoulder pads are a harbinger of war. Large collars are a sign of anxiety. Large earrings indicate a need for stability, while high hair styles and chignons are signs of change in a political regime, and so on.

Aside from the clothes made of metal and plastic, Paco Rabanne was the first to make inexpensive formal wear in gold and silver paper, which was sold in airports. He also created costumes for film. In 1999, as he said then, he presented his last haute couture collection, blatantly acknowledging that haute couture was dead, because the elite for whom it had been created no longer existed.

Meanwhile, bravely continuing along the path of spiritual development, he wished to share his experiences and wrote the book Journey, in which he talked about his life and his belief in reincarnation. Convinced that we are living in the last few years, he bravely revealed his vision of the future in the following books: Le temps présent and La fin des temps . Nevertheless, the greatest futurist in fashion shook and angered the French public when, convinced that Paris would be destroyed during the solar eclipse of August 1999, he closed down his house of haute couture and escaped to the shores of Annecy Lake. Later, he asked the public to forgive his mistake and continued his work. However, one cannot bear a grudge against him. The majority of people who studied the occult, esotericism, and religion, people who knew how to read the signs of the times, were convinced that the end of the world, the world as we know it, would take place in August 1999. They probably forgot to consider that Destiny, even collective destiny, is likely to change. In fact, by changing their way of thinking and their behavior, people can change the events of their life and the history of the world. In such a way, they probably forgot that nobody has the right to change the destiny of others and reveal the date of the end of the world, for this interferes with Divine will.

Nevertheless, the close contact between the Moon and Uranus, as well as that between Mercury, planet of language, and energetic Mars are the reasons for which he choose to warn people about the events of August 1999. More precisely, people who have these aspects in their horoscopes have exceptional mental energy. They are excellent during controversies, frank and just. They perpetually battle against hypocrisy and lies. Nevertheless, usually, they do not divulge their thoughts without having evaluated the consequences beforehand. On the other hand, the Sun near the Zenith at the moment of his birth reinforced his ego, while Saturn, the professor, located at the Zenith and close to the Sun, taught him to constantly master this ego.

One must finally acknowledge that Paco Rabanne is neither a prophet nor a guru. He is just a sincere humanist who seeks the Truth, and who signaled the alarm for the future of humanity. However, he is not an ordinary man. He is the herald of a new age, the Age of Aquarius, founded on spirituality and Universal Love. The stars reveal that they will help him to carry out his plans in 2009 and 2010.
