Catherine Deneuve

She achieved something that is close to impossible: impeccably holding on to her star status for over 40 years in the cruel world of the film industry, which is always hungry for new, young faces. Catherine Deneuve, a symbol of style and beauty among all women and a glamorous figure in the secret desires of men.

She was born in Paris on October 22 1943, under the sign of gracious Libra. Her ascendant is found in the sign of emotionally-distant Capricorn, and her Moon is in the sign of theatrical Leo. All this indicates an artistic predisposition and the need to be applauded. This is entirely normal if one considers that Catherine Deneuve was the third child in a family of artists. Her mother was an actress, and her father wrote scripts. Her older sister, Françoise Dorléac, was a beauty queen and an actress.

1956Perhaps therein lies the reason behind her precocious debut in the world of film. Thus, at just 13 years old, Catherine Dorléac took her mother’s maiden name, Deneuve, and timidly entered the world of moving pictures. She would say of her beginnings:

“I was a very shy girl and in fact I did not want to be seen on the screen. However, my sister had experience as an actress and sent me to meet producers. And everything began unexpectedly!”

The stars reveal that this did not happen completely unexpectedly. In fact, over the course of 1965, Jupiter, planet of happiness, activated her natal Jupiter and passed through her house of public (7th), helping her leave anonymity behind. Furthermore, her house of the public also received a visit from unpredictable Uranus and influential Pluto. Charismatic Neptune in transit touched her natal Sun, wrapping her in a halo of intangibility and glamour.

Her love affair with Roger Vadim, the man who had created Brigitte Bardot and Jane Fonda, suddenly began sometime around her 17 th year, when Venus, planet of love, touched Neptune, planet of illusions, in directions. Because of the position of nonconformist Uranus in her horoscope, located in the house of love and children (5th), the events of her love life would be strange and unpredictable while her first pregnancy would terminate either in an abortion or the birth of an illegitimate child. This was confirmed by reality. In 1963, Catherine and Roger Vadim were not married and had a son, Christian. She then told reporters:

“Being married or not being married has never been a problem for me, because I am very attached to the people who I love. You can call this friendship, but I call it love. And as I make a big commitment to the people I love, a signature on a piece of paper means nothing to me.”

However, her feelings of attachment and commitment to those she loved quickly disappeared. Two years later, in 1965, she married the English photographer David Bailey. This was her first and only marriage. It lasted only three years. In fact, Catherine Deneuve never stayed with a man for longer than four years. Mick Jagger was the best man at the wedding. Catherine wore a black wedding dress created by Yves Saint Laurent. The stars reveal that her relationship with David Bailey was of a karmic nature, that it probably began suddenly and under very strange circumstances. They both probably had the feeling that they had known each other for a very long time. Indeed, over the course of 1965, Jupiter and the North Node passed through her house of love and activated unpredictable Uranus and ardent Mars. Uranus in transit as well as Pluto, link to past lives, activated her natal Venus and Chiron and provoked the settlement of emotional debts linked to previous lives.

1972In 1971, while filming the movie Lisa, she fell in love with the Italian actor and seducer, Marcello Mastroianni. She then declared that Marcello would remain in her heart until the end of her days: “I loved him so much that it felt completely normal to have a child with him and in May 1972 I brought his daughter Chiara into the world” she would later recollect. Over the course of the same period, Saturn in transit, the enforcer of destiny, touched Uranus in her house of children, putting her maturity to the test. For its part, Jupiter passed through her Ascendant in Capricorn and announced the beginning of a new cycle in her life. She then made a good choice and decided to bring the child into the world. However, Mastroianni, being a good Catholic, did not divorce his first wife. Although Catherine and Marcello did not live together any longer than three years, their relationship transformed into a deep friendship that would last until the death of the latter, in December 1996.

– Why couldn’t Catherine Deneuve stay with a man for longer than four years?

Psychologists would say that perhaps the reason for this lies in the fact that one does not stay in love for more than three years at the most. However, the stars have another answer. On the one hand, the reason behind this is found in her need for independence, confirmed by the position of nonconformist Uranus in her house of love and children. She herself said in one of her interviews:

“I left my family home when I wanted to. I brought children into the world when I wanted to and I got married when I wanted to. If you decide to be independent, sooner or later you will feel alone, but I have always thought that this loneliness was worth it.”

On the other hand, the stars affirm that there exists another, deeper reason. In fact, Pluto located in the house of marriage (7th) reveals that because of the unresolved karmic links with certain people in her previous life, Catherine Deneuve would experience difficulty in maintaining a lasting relationship in her present life, if this relationship took the form of a marriage. A particular danger exists of quickly losing partners to whom her soul was attached, with the goal of learning to give love without constructing dependent relationships. It was precisely for this reason that it was perhaps better that her relationship with Mastroianni did not transform into a marriage. When reporters asked why she did not legalize her relationship with Marcello, in harmony with the response of her sign, diplomatic Libra, she responded:

“I have already been married, but I cannot live in such a manner. My sister is married and that works well for her. For me, marital obligations are so big that I doubt that I can marry again.”

– What was Catherine Deneuve really like?

Born at the moment when the Sun, Mercury, and Neptune were found in the refined sign of Libra, Catherine Deneuve was an intelligent and diplomatic person, at ease among others, towards the public and on the screen. She always spoke quickly and with assurance, giving her interlocutor the perfect illusion that she was divulging her greatest secrets to them. Her ascendant in the sign of reserved Capricorn and Venus, indicator of feelings, located in the sign of analytic Virgo, makes her calculating when expressing her emotions. In other terms, she hid her liberal views of love and sex behind a cold appearance. What’s more, women whose ascendant is in Capricorn have beautiful faces, similar to the madonnas painted by the masters of the Italian renaissance and, most importantly, instead of aging, they become more attractive over the years. She said:

“In a certain sense, I am a famous and unknown actress. I have created this distance between myself, reporters and the public in my youth and I have always lived my private life.”

In fact, the ascendant in Capricorn gives its protégés an enormous power of self-control and it is practically impossible to tear their secrets from them. It is precisely because of this that Catherine Deneuve still brings to mind a cold and refined beauty, while eccentric Uranus in her house of love indicates a person with an eventful love life, always ready to experiment. The close contact with the Moon, symbol of feelings, and secret and ardent Pluto in the house of the public and marriage (7th) reveals a volcano of passion hidden underneath the ice. The director Roman Polanski perhaps described her personality with the greatest accuracy when he said: “Deneuve always looks like a sexy virgin”.

At a more mature age, opening up a little to reporters, Catherine recounted:

“You know, people have always thought that I was a classic type, although in fact I lead a life that is not at all conventional.”

Her list of lovers includes the names of Roman Polanski, Burt Reynolds, Omar Sharif, the famous French rocker Johnny Hallyday, the composer and actor Serge Gainsbourg, the director Francois Truffaut and even a president of the republic whose name she still keeps to herself.

It was perhaps this double nature that director Luis Buñuel sensed when he cast her in the film Belle de jour in the role of the middle-class woman who, seeking to stave off everyday boredom, begins working in a large Parisian bordello. Catherine Deneuve became an international star with this role, exactly in 1967. She would say on the subject:

“I found it strange that the public, even today after so many years, associates me with Belle de jour. The fact that Luis Buñuel chose me for this role shocked a lot of people. Though it was perhaps a turning point in my career, I do not think it was an excellent film. And my role was more a representation than an interpretation.”

1967For Catherine, the year 1967 was a period that brought her both joy and sorrow. Her success on the screen could not diminish her grief over the death of her sister Francoise, who had led her into the universe of film. Francoise was burned alive in a traffic accident, in the automobile that Catherine drove.

Astrology indicates something similar, for unpredictable Uranus and Pluto, symbol of the underground world, passed through the house of death (8th) in her chart that year, announcing blows dealt by Destiny.

– How did she keep her place for so long in the cruel world of film?

If one compares her current appearance with her looks from her first films, it is obvious that she is like a good wine and becomes more beautiful and more exhilarating over the years. The French writer Francoise Sagan said one day about the secret of Catherine Deneuve’s persistence:

“She knows how to seduce Americans with her French charm, and the French with her American beauty.”

Perhaps this secret also lies in the fact that Catherine Deneuve was never just an actress. She also was and remains a muse, and aren’t muses immortal?

In her natal chart, the Moon, Jupiter, and Pluto in Leo, in the house of the public, reveal a personality gifted with an irrepressible need for recognition. Her ascendant in Capricorn indicates business sense and, for a certain period of time, Catherine was the symbol of the perfume Chanel Number 5. For a long time, she was the muse of the creator Yves Saint Laurent and loaned her face to the feminine symbol of the French Republic, Marianne.

Today, she is still active in the film world. Her affectivity calmed, Catherine can devote more of herself to her children and help them along the thorny path through fame. For better or for worse, Christian Vadim and Chiara Mastroianni, her son and daughter, choose to become actors. “I used to believe I would stop worrying about my children when they grew older,” she said, “but I worry more about them now than when they were younger. There probably does not exist an age at which a mother’s worries entirely disappear.” Nevertheless, Catherine Deneuve can say today that she is a happy woman. She lives in Paris, in her apartment on the left bank, and on her property in Normandy. When she is in Normandy, she enjoys working in her garden and cooking wonderful dishes for her friends. Her current partner, with whom she spends her free time, is Pierre Lescure. She collects works of art and figurines bought during her travels.

The human face is like a piece of blank paper, upon which the years write the manner in which they were lived. Over the years, Catherine Deneuve’s face has lost her famous look of a sexy virgin. She now radiates maturity and the sense of a woman satisfied with the experiences life has brought to her.

The stars reveal that in 2008, a new 12-year cycle began for her. In September and October 2008, as well as in May and June 2009, emotional crises await her. Over the course of the same period she must pay attention to money matters, in particular money coming from sponsors.
