Grace Kelly
Grace Kelly was born into a rich family. She was exceptionally beautiful. In just a short time she succeeded in shining in the Hollywood sky. She met her prince on a white horse and proved that life was nothing but a movie, and yet a movie is nothing but an illusion because it is limited by space and time. During the time in which her life unfolded, she lived like a princess, did not suffer from any illness, and did not experience a difficult old age. Then, when her beauty began to wither, she had a car accident. She died in the same manner and place as in her last film. Philosophers have said that no one dies unless they desire to do so from the depths of their being. We will try hard to discover the reasons behind such a desire. Grace Kelly was born on November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, USA. Her Sun and Ascendant are located in the sign of secretive Scorpio, with the power of magnetic attraction. Her Moon is in the sign of melancholic and artistically gifted Pisces. Aside from these facts, an astrologer would say that she was a person whose iron will was mixed with deep and melancholic feelings. Her natal chart immediately reveals the dominant position of Neptune, the magus of illusions, who conceals its true nature behind a shimmering veil. Here, one also sees the magnetic charm thanks to which she attracted and captivated the public’s attention from a very young age until after her death. Her father John Brendan Kelly, commonly called Jack, was responsible for her first public appearance. He was the son of an Irish immigrant and member of Roosevelt’s democratic party. Thus, to promote his political career, Jack Kelly would pose for the cameras with his family around him, in order to portray the image of a family man during his electoral campaign. Those who knew him described him as an exceptionally proud man. He proved this many times over, in particular when he refused to wear glasses so as not to tarnish his image, despite his eyesight problems. – What was Grace Kelly’s relationship with her father? Her chart shows that her father was a man who did not know how to show his true feelings, and even behaved in a harmful way towards her. Here, Neptune creates the main illusion. In order to protect herself from cruel realty, little Grace’s sensitive soul created an unrealistic and idealized image of her father. She was attached to him and tried hard to deserve his love through satisfying his desires. This is the precise moment at which she began to create an unrealistic image of men in her life. In order to satisfy her father’s pride, she began searching for a prince on a white horse. The limits of her father’s arrogance and his lack of sensitivity can be seen when Grace Kelly received the Oscar for best actress in 1954 for the film The Country Girl. When reporters asked “was he pleased with his daughter’s success?” Jack Kelly responded: “We allowed her to become an actress because we did not know what other profession she should choose.”
A very demeaning attitude if one considers that it took Grace only a few years, from 1951 to 1956, to become a Hollywood star. Her success was perhaps helped in part by her uncle George Kelly, who worked as a playwright. However, her success is largely attributed to her talent, beauty, and of course to the stars. More precisely, towards the beginning of 1951, the North Node transited her house of creativity (5th) and touched her natal Moon, symbol of popularity. Influential Pluto then passed through her house of reputation and career (10th). Towards the middle of the same year, Jupiter, planet of happiness, passed through her house of work (6th). In 1954, as Grace Kelly received her Oscar, Saturn, the enforcer of destiny, crossed her Ascendant and remained in her house of self (1st) until 1956. – What was Grace Kelly really like? Charismatic Neptune, located in the house of reputation of her chart, as well as Venus in the sign of refined Libra, near her Ascendant, conceal her true personality with the veil of beauty and charisma. Thus, the public saw Grace Kelly as a refined, reserved, glamorous, fragile, gentle, and defenseless woman. However, the stars confirm that this was nothing but a facade. The Sun in Scorpio, the Ascendant and bellicose Mars again in the sign of powerful and secretive Scorpio, and also in the house of self (1st), reveal that she was indeed a strong person, with an iron will, who always reached the objectives she set for herself. Simultaneously, Mercury, planet of reason, located next to the Ascendant, indicates her exceptional rationality and her calculating and secret side. This is perhaps the reason why her private life never erupted into scandal. No photographer ever succeeded in being the “shooter” when her skirt was lifted by the wind. Those who worked with her confirm that she had romantic affairs with almost all of her male co-stars: William Holden, Bing Crosby, Gary Grant, Clarke Gable, Gary Cooper, David Niven, Spencer Tracy... Even with the Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi. – What did she do with her enormous amounts of energy when she stopped making films? She surely poured it into the cultivation of her persona as princess, the role of her life. More precisely, while she was filming the To Catch a Thief in Cannes and Monaco in 1955, crafty Alfred Hitchcock invited Prince Rainier Grimaldi to visit the film set. A full seven months later, Grace abandoned the world of film and her lover Oleg Cassini, left America and became the princess of Monaco. This comes as no surprise if one considers that over the course of 1955, Neptune, the magus of illusions, in its transit touched her natal Venus, planet of love. This reveals that Grace Kelly experienced her encounter with Prince Rainier in a surreal manner. She then idealized the image of a princess’s life This is why, under the effect of Neptune’s magic, she saw something special in this otherwise ordinary prince. She confided to her close friends: “I think he’s charming. I love his eyes. I can spend hours looking into them.”
– Was her marriage with Prince Rainier of Monaco a sensible match or the fulfillment of a young girl’s dream? Probably the one and the other. Both sides are true. More precisely, the Moon, symbol of feelings and the soul, located in Pisces, indicates deep romanticism and aspirations to sublime love. However, the dominant position of rational Mercury and that of Saturn in the house of money indicate a realistic nature that understood life is not easy. She was still frightened by poverty. This probably weighed upon her decision to put an end to her relationship with Oleg Cassini, the Russian aristocrat, stylist, and playboy, who her parents could not stand, and marry prince Rainier only shortly after having met him. Nevertheless, few people knew that Grace did not leave for Monaco with her hands empty. She brought along a dowry valued at two million dollars that her father Jack Kelly gave to her. – How did she interpret her new role? Her wedding day, April 19 1956, was truly royal, just like a fairytale. This is confirmed by three planets, the Moon, Jupiter and Pluto, all located on that day in the sign of regal Leo in her house of reputation. Neptune, the magus of illusions, entirely veiled her natal Venus in its transit, thus helping her to experience the entire event as a surreal incident. However, after her marriage, Grace Kelly’s childish dreams of a prince on a white horse began to melt like snow in the sun. First of all, under the influence of Neptune in her house of reputation, she changed her name to Gracia Patricia. She was not accepted by the Grimaldi family. Suspicious of the propriety of her Hollywood life and with the characteristic snobbism of the European aristocracy, they could not “bear living under the same roof as an actress”. – Were they right? The preponderance of Scorpio in Grace’s chart betrays the powerful sex appeal that radiated from her and that she could not keep to herself. Venus, located in the house of secrets (12th), reveals that she often hid events that took place in the bedroom. Eccentric Uranus located in the house of love indicates her aptitude to experiment in the subject of sex, her adventures with various eccentrics, affairs with married men or men who had strange fantasies. A reserved, cold beauty on the silver screen, she was a volcano of passion in bed. Gary Cooper, one of her co-stars, described his experience with Grace Kelly as: “She looked like she was a cold dish with a man until you got her pants down, then she’d explode.” Hardly a gallant remark from this great seducer. In any case, this indicates that she had an unbalanced yet intense love life. Perhaps an unfortunate personal experience made her fear for the love lives of her children. However, in life, what we are most afraid of always comes to us.– What do the stars say about her children? The Moon, symbol of feelings, is located in the house of children (5th) and Pisces. Nevertheless, Uranus, planet of eccentricity and ruler of Aquarius, also resides there. This indicates that her first pregnancy would probably end up as an abortion, before her marriage with Rainier. However, the Moon and Uranus in the house of children reveal that her children would be eccentric and that they would be born under the signs of Aquarius and Pisces. On the other hand, mothers born under the sign of Scorpio are often much too protective towards their children. In addition, the princesses Caroline and Stephanie were born under the sign of Aquarius, while prince Albert was born as a Pisces. Notwithstanding, there is also the legend that in 1297, Francois Grimaldi, an ancestor of Prince Rainier, conquered the fortress of Monaco disguised as a priest and transformed this place into a meeting place for buccaneers and other sea bandits. According to legend, the Grimaldi family has since then been cursed by Neptune, god of the seas. The curse manifests itself in the troubled love lives of all of Princess Grace’s children. They all have (or have had) great pain in establishing their own families, and even more maintaining them. Only Caroline seems to have recently defeated this curse with her latest marriage. – Was Grace satisfied in her role as princess? The stars indicate a deep feeling of duty that probably helped her to play the role of her duty to the hilt. However, after her wedding day, Grace Kelly did not make any more films. In 1962, Alfred Hitchcock offered her a role in his film Marnie. However, the Vatican protested, with the belief that filming a movie is not the type of work fit for the monarch of one of the last Catholic monarchies. Fifteen years later, Grace received another offer for the film The Turning Point. She tried to explain her refusal of this offer by saying: “The position of actors is completely different in Europe than in America. In America, actors can have a public life and a private life. As for me, as the wife of a prince, I have but one choice, public life, the life of a princess.”
However, her gentle and artistically inclined soul sought accomplishment through organizing cultural life in Monaco. She founded the school of classical dance, the theatre, organized expositions of dried flowers, poetry soirees in Europe and America. She also began to study astrology. In secret, she dreamed that she would return to the world of film. She said on this subject: “I still have the makeup kit I used for films since the time I studied comedy. It is in one of the palace’s closets and is certainly covered in dust. Perhaps one day I will go and take it out again, perhaps not...”
– How was her relationship with prince Rainier? A Scorpio with a deep spirit probably does not have many things in common with a fickle and superficial Gemini. However, their common desire to uphold the principality and their love for their children kept them together. The stars say that perhaps weary of her children’s perpetual problems, perhaps feeling empty in her life or feeling as if she had reached her peak, she herself seemed to provoke the accident of September 13, 1982. That day, aggressive Mars in transit touched her natal Mars in the house of self. Jupiter crossed her Ascendant, thus closing a chapter of her life and opening another. All the more reason that her natal Jupiter, planet of expansion, is located in the house of death. It reveals that she probably welcomed the liberation of her soul from her body with relief. In fact, death is not an end, merely a door that leads to another form of existence. The fairytale did not disappear after her death. Magazines still publish items about her. Monaco became the Mecca for the jet-set crowd. A rose was named after her. The Vatican also thought about making her a saint. Her history remains the proof that life is like a movie. And a movie is an illusion because it is limited by space and time.
