His life reflects one of the classic stories of American success. A Midwestern boy who experienced head-spinning success. However, this was nothing in comparison to the blessing or curse that God had given him through his talent, the ability to feel, at least for a moment, what He had felt while He was creating worlds. Thus, Disney breathed life into Snow-White and the seven dwarves, Pinocchio, Bambi, Mickey Mouse. Creating his irrational world, where heroes were more often animal rather than human characters, Walt Disney was a herald of virtual reality. He also knocked at the door of our consciousnesses, showing us through his animated drawings that animals too had emotions, even if they could not express them through words. All of his work sounds out as a call to humanity to improve its relations with animals.

Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago. He was one of five children in the Disney family. He was born under the sign of slightly infantile Sagittarius. His ascendant is found in the sign of analytical and precise Virgo and his Moon in that of refined Libra. Pluto, planet of hidden power, and Neptune, planet of illusions, are in a prominent place, towards the Zenith. This is where he gets his great charisma and powers of conviction to make others feel as if the heroes of his animal drawings are real. Pluto and Neptune at the Zenith also give him the power to camouflage his true nature. There is also a strong concentration of planetary energy in the sign of tenacious and practical Capricorn, where the major characteristics of his personality come from: his enormous need for power, his desire to command, his success thanks to unrelenting work as well as his tyrannical behavior towards his team. Bill Melendez, one of the Disney animators who started working with him in 1927, at the beginning of the golden age, said about Disney:

“Walt did a lot of things that were reprehensible and completely unlike the image of ‘Uncle Walt’. Uncle Walt was a rascal.”

This is confirmed by one of his biographers, Richard Schickel, who reveals:

“People around the studio called him ‘Uncle Walt’ but there was a hysterical spin on that because there are uncles who are a real pain [...] domineering and controlling. That was ‘Uncle Walt’ to most people of the studio.”

– Generosity, optimism, sincerity: were the characteristics of his natal sign, Sagittarius, present at all in his personality?

At the moment of his birth, the Sun is found in a powerful embrace with eccentric and original Uranus, generally located in an important place in the chart of great people, while the ruler of his Sun, expansive Jupiter, is found in close contact with stern Saturn, master of Capricorn. This is why the characteristics of Sagittarius are considerably altered. Nevertheless, the influence of Sagittarius in Walt Disney’s character is noted in his enthusiasm, his almost childish fascination with his work and his need for complete freedom.

– What else does his natal chart reveal?

The preponderance of the house of communication, words and writing (3^rd) in which the planet of language and ruler of his horoscope, Mercury, is found, indicates that Disney was skilled with words and a good storyteller. In the same manner, he could have excelled in working in the fields of publicity or education. Neptune at the Zenith reveals that he was also a great actor. At the same time, the connection between the Sun and Uranus in the house of words, writing, communication and relationships with brothers and sisters, indicates a stubborn and tenacious man who never gives up, even if he is wrong. Concerning this aspect between the Sun and Uranus, one must not forget that Uranus, ruler of unconventional Aquarius, pushed him to prefer casual apparel. This is why Disney will be remembered for his sweaters, an unconventional way of dressing in an era when men only wore suits. His strong will and his great power of persuasion influenced his coworkers, who adopted the pullover as a work uniform and smoked the same brand of cigarettes that Disney smoked.

Eccentric and unpredictable, Uranus also has another side. People whose charts are dominated by Uranus lack common sense and are incapable of dealing with money. This leads us to the following conclusion: Walt Disney probably did not know how to manage his money. His feature-length Snow White and the Seven Dwarves attracted twenty million viewers after its premiere. It earned him eight million dollars, at a time when admission to a movie was only 25 cents. Disney finally had the money he needed to produce his next ambitious idea, Pinocchio. During the production of his next feature length film, no expense was spared. This cost 2.5 million dollars. After becoming rich overnight, he would have certainly lost everything to risky investments if his brother Roy had not come along to take care of the Disney studio's finances. However, this hardly comes as a surprise if one considers that from the moment of his birth, the stars show that Disney would receive the most help from his brothers and sisters. This is revealed by the predominance of the third house in his horoscope.

– In Disney’s chart, the stars reveal his talents with words, persuasion, body language, and acting. Where does his talent for drawing come from?

Nowhere, because aside from his Moon’s location in the sign of artistically inclined Libra, no other aspect indicates a talent for drawing. Furthermore, astrology cannot make any conclusions when something is not confirmed several times. Thus, we can conclude that Walt Disney had an innate sense for what was beautiful and artistic, but no particular talent as a draftsman. This is confirmed by his employees. Bill Melendez once said in an interview:

“He was not an artist. He’d always been asked when he was out in the country, giving talks and meeting people, ‘draw Mickey’, and he couldn’t draw it. So, I remember when they got Freddy Moore, who was considered the best Mickey Mouse man, to teach Walt how to draw a three quarter shot of Mickey Mouse.”

David Hilberman, artistic director of the Disney studio, added:

“Walt was not a good draftsman and did it only for the camera.”

– So, is astrology mistaken, or is somebody else the father of Mickey, Snow-White and Bambi?

We know that in 1920, Walt Disney started making short animated films composed of stories, advertisements and information reels. However, these films were not a commercial success. In 1923, he moved from Kansas City to Los Angeles, in search of a better life. At precisely the right moment, as the stars reveal. In fact, in 1923, the North Node passed through his Ascendant and Jupiter, planet of happiness, transited his house of money (2^nd). After several fruitless attempts at finding work as a film director, he began to make his animated films. He was helped in this by his colleague in Kansas City, Ubbe Iwerks, who was in charge of drawing, and his brother Roy, in charge of his finances.

This was the era in which he produced the Alice series and the 26 short animated films about Oswald the rabbit and his major heroes. However, the “Disney Brothers” studio lost the rights to the character of Oswald. They needed to react quickly, while staying true to themselves. The rabbit was quickly transformed into a mouse, who would become one of the most well-know stars in the history of film. Mickey Mouse was born.

– What was Walt Disney’s role in all of this?

The predominance of the house of words led him to only lend his voice to Mickey Mouse. Bill Melendez would later reveal:

“That was in New York, and they had a big exhibition of modern art, ‘The Art of Walt Disney’. Of course, I went to see it. I was curious. [...] Everything was signed ‘Walt Disney.’ He hadn’t made any of these God damned drawings. The art of Walt Disney is the art of a company, fine, but not Walt signing his name to other people’s drawings. That’s not fine at all.”

Mercury, planet of reason, located in the sign of deeply spirited Scorpio, as well as the strong concentration of planetary energy in the sign of calculating Capricorn helped him to take advantage of the crisis during the 1930’s in America and recruit and train some of the best draftsmen. It is, however, shocking to learn that someone who was so compassionate towards the fate of animals was a real lout with people. He treated his draftswomen like second-rate artists, and could not stand Jewish people or people of color. Bill Melendez said on the subject:

“I remember clearly Walt saying once that women were all right to be used in a menial capacity because once they reach the age of thirty, their hands get shaky, so it’s time to get rid of them.”

– Why didn’t any of his employees ever become famous?

The position of the Moon in the house of self (1^st) reveals that Walt Disney was sensitive to the opinions of others. On the other hand, the preponderance of Capricorn in his chart makes him insensitive, cruel and power hungry. This influence is reinforced by the energy of powerful Pluto located near the Zenith. If Walt Disney had not succeeded in the world of animation, he would have surely been active in politics.

It was precisely his need for power, which hid an inferiority complex, that made him fearful of losing what he had, which is in fact the hidden fear of every Capricornian. This is why he would tell his employees: “If you want to become famous, leave the studio.” Marie Beardsley, one of the artists in the Disney studio, would say on the subject: “He didn’t like sharing in the honors and he always had his name, his name went up.”

– If this was the case, and it was, what was the secret of his success?

Astrology has the answer to this question. In his natal chart, creative Neptune is located at a critical degree from Cancer ( 0°34’) , in the house of career (10^th). This is where the urge to do something new and never before seen comes from. As well as enormous creativity. In fact, he would always first play each scene of his animated drawings for his employees, and they would then draw the characters and situations based on what they had seen.

On the other hand, Venus, planet of art, leaves Capricorn and is found only 18 minutes from the entrance to Aquarius, in the house of creativity (5^th). This is where the feeling that haunted Disney comes from, the need to hurry to create what he had imagined. This is also where his discipline and advance planning in each work phase comes from. One of his employees said:

“We worked from 7 in the morning till 10 at night.”

Bill Melendez adds:

“Everybody loved the studio. Everybody joyfully worked overtime, putting all the hours needed, without any pay. Everybody liked each other and liked Walt.”

– What was Walt Disney like in his private life?

Those who knew him say that he deliberately avoided the Hollywood social scene. He passed most of his free time with his wife, who he was married to for 40 years, his children, or playing polo. He was not interested in women. His employees also said that he liked Mickey Mouse more than he liked women. The stars partly confirm this. The negative influences inflicted upon the Moon, indicator of an individual's emotional side, by several planets, as well as the isolation of Venus, planet of love, paint Disney as a man with a wounded sensitivity, closed, without warmth. He was in fact a wounded child, who had never grown up, frightened by the world of adults. Avoiding confrontation with himself, even as an adult he always tried to stay busy with his work. This is also where the magus of illusions, Neptune, intervened and helped him to wrap his childhood memories in a veil of unreality, so that he could grow up with less pain. Often in interviews, he would say that idyllic memories kept him in touch with his childhood. It was perhaps precisely because of this that he was able to easily enter and navigate the world of children.

In 1966, Walt Disney died of cancer at the age of 65. His death gave rise to a series of speculations. Some believe that his body remains in hibernation at his house, to be brought back to life when science finds a cure for cancer. This is very probable, if one considered that Walt Disney lived his entire life under the influence of eccentric Uranus.
