Nostradamus

Well-versed in literature and philosophy, he spoke Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. He possessed a deep knowledge of medicine and mathematics. He flirted with alchemy and magic and was very familiar with astrology. Michel de Nostredame, the greatest prophet of all times, once said: “Human understanding, being intellectually created, cannot see hidden things unless aided by a voice coming from inaccessible spheres.” This truth was confirmed many years later, when science had discovered more about how the human brain functions.

Michel de Nostredame was born on December 14, 1503 in Saint Rémy de Provence. He was born under the sign of resistant and flexible Capricorn (according to the ancient Julian calendar, the Sun is in Capricorn from December 13 onwards). His Ascendant is found in the sign of explorer Aries and his Moon is the sign of contemplative Scorpio. Many factors present at his birth indicate that he would become an extraordinary individual, with a tragic destiny, whose name would continue to live on after his death. More precisely, at the moment of his birth, there was a strong concentration of planetary energy in the sign of sensitive and intuitive Cancer, in a disharmonious relationship with the other aspects of his horoscope. The Moon, symbol of the spouse, is found near the cusp of the house of death (8th). Jupiter, protector of religion, embraces stern Saturn, which announces problems created by religious figures. Simultaneously, finding itself at one of the angles of the grand Water trine, this aspect is in harmonious relationship between Uranus, the antenna of Universal Reason, located in the house of the subconscious (12th), and the sensitive Moon at the entrance of the house of the occult (8th). All this points to prophetic abilities and indicates someone who would be protected by the Universe. Such features are often encountered in the charts of people who come to Earth to accomplish a particular mission.

Michel de Nostredame was born to an affluent Jewish family. His grandparents were well-known doctors. However, during that era, the Jewish community in France was subjected to strong pressure from the Catholic Church. This is why Michel’s entire family was obliged to convert to the Christian faith when he was just nine years old, in order to keep their status. This is what the stars reveal. 1512In fact, over the course of 1512, Pluto, planet of metamorphosis, transits his house of spirituality and religion (9th). Jupiter, protector of religion, passed through his Ascendant, thus marking the beginning of a new cycle in his existence. The transit of Uranus in his house of self (1st) also announces radical changes on the personal level. According to the ancient Jewish tradition, his maternal grandfather oversaw his education. It was indeed his grandfather who introduced him to the secrets of astrology, taught him concentration exercises, Latin, Hebrew, and Greek, all languages necessary for studying the literature of the era. Thus, Destiny subtly intervened so that he would, at a young age, easily have access to the knowledge accumulated by previous generations over the centuries.

In the chart of Michel de Nostredame, charismatic Neptune, planet of Universal Love, is located in the house of fame and glory (10th). This renders an individual charismatic, and if the individual does not infringe upon Universal Laws, Neptune makes sure that their glory will last beyond their death. It is precisely thanks to Neptune’s help that Michel de Nostredame, one of the thousands of celebrated astrologers of the Middle Ages, made history and continues to live on in memory, while his rivals fell into oblivion. In parallel, the energy of Neptune, an octave higher than the energy of Venus, planet of love, pushes the individual under its influence to seek accomplishment in universal love. This is why such people are often called to missionary work. This is noticed in the case of Michel de Nostredame, as well as in the case of Sai Baba, much later on.

In 1520, powerful Pluto transited his house of career (10th) and triggered his natal Mercury, symbol of reason. This helped Michel de Nostredame to accomplish himself on the level of the intellect. He earned his degrees in literature and philosophy in Avignon. Then, thanks to the help of his grandfather, he obtained authorization to work as a doctor and was immediately recognized in his profession. He practiced first and foremost in the south of France, where the plague raged. This is when the original Uranus of his natal theme entered the scene. Located in a water sign (Pisces) and in the house of hospitals (12th), it subtly led him towards unconventional methods and means of treatment. Thus, Michel de Nostredame compelled people to wash and thoroughly clean the streets of infected neighborhoods, to wash the walls of houses with wine vinegar, and to eat more garlic. He satisfied his missionary instinct by visiting hospitals, without caring about his own health, and helping the poor. Because of this, he enjoyed great fame and was respected and recognized, and even received income for life from certain towns. However, successful people have always presented a threat to mediocre people, as they arouse feelings of worthlessness in them. It was precisely during these moments of success that the discordant aspect of his chart between Neptune, in the house of career (10th), and stern Saturn was triggered. This pushed his jealous colleagues to persecute him and spread lies about him and his work, with the goal of alerting the Inquisition. This time, the reputation of his grandparents saved him from the worst. Nevertheless, he was forced to leave and go study in Montepellier.

All of these events inspired within him the need to protect his identity. Furthermore, Neptune, the magus of illusions, located in his house of reputation, indicated from the time of his birth that Michel de Nostredame would be known under his pseudonym. However, the stars must support his decision. 1533In 1533, when Neptune in transit crossed his North Node near his Ascendant and Uranus in transit freed Saturn in the house of origins (4th), Michel de Nostredame adopted the Latin variation of his name and became known as Nostradamus.

Nevertheless, the stars indicate yet another thing. Destined for a particular mission, he could not be pampered by Destiny, and needed to learn not to attach his soul to earthly things. This is why Destiny had to take what mattered most to him, his home and his family. Fatal events could neither be avoided nor pushed away. When the Moon, ruler of the house of children and symbol of the wife, was found on the cusp of his house of death (8th), his wife and his two children died, stolen from him by the plague in 1537. Disappointed by Destiny and indignant by the attitude of his colleagues, he left his medical practice, retired, and devoted himself entirely to editing and publishing books. He was helped in this by Jupiter, protector of teaching and ruler of the house of philosophy and publication, located in his house of home (4th). Initially, his books were on the subject of medicine and pharmaceutics, such as the recipes selected for good health, in which he wrote: “Do not cook food for any longer than it takes to say the Our Father and the Hail Mary twice.” Thus, in a thoughtful manner, Nostradamus introduced prayer-meditation into recipes, as a way of measuring time.

1547However, the stellium of planets in the sign of fertile Cancer, in the house of the home and the family, rendered him a very emotional person who was attached to his home, and indicates that he would have a large family. Then, after ten years of restless wandering between France and Italy, he returned to Provence in 1547 and married again. Over the course of 1547, Saturn, the incorruptible professor, transited his natal Sun, and rewarded him for his good deeds and previous choices. The prophecy came true and Nostradamus had six children from this marriage. Despite his interesting life and his virtues, the times would have carried his name into oblivion if he had not written the Centuries, prophesies on the destiny of the world that stretched into the year 3997. These are written in symbolic and unintelligible language, so as to avoid the Inquisition, because they also foreshadowed the collapse of the pontifical State.

– How did Nostradamus obtain a state of expanded consciousness?

According to him, “human understanding, being intellectually created, cannot see hidden things unless aided by a voice coming from inaccessible spheres.” This is why he tried hard to muffle the voice of reason, so as to make room for the voice that came from inaccessible spheres, in the style of the Oracle of Delphi. More precisely, he fixed his gaze upon the flame of a candle, fell into a trance, then related in writing the images he saw in a bowl of water. He said one time of this feeling:

“I empty my soul, brain and heart of all cares until I attain a state of tranquility and stillness of mind. Then I feel the prophetic heat...”

Yogis would add to this: “A classic method of meditation and calming of the spirit so as to coordinate the work of the left and right hemispheres, of the rational and the irrational, until one reaches transcendental consciousness.”

– At what point did his prophesies change the world?

Nostradamus was the personal astrologer for many royal figures, and he was particularly close to the reigning queen of France, Catherine of Medici. He predicted the French revolution and the end of King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. He announced the reign of Napoleon, the rise of Hitler and the second world war. However, his predictions were buried in symbols and were often discovered after the events had already taken place. Thus, Nostradamus did not interfere with the history of the world and the natural course of circumstances, which is probably a good thing. In fact, when people know their future and live in fear and caution, they tend to let the present pass them by. Though he had written in symbols, this does not mean that his verses could not be misused by different people for different goals. He could not be held responsible for this misuse, for the devil himself can cite the Bible for his own designs.

The horoscope cannot show anything but the critical moments in one’s existence, and cannot predict its end. Nevertheless, like many other prophets, Nostradamus had predicted his own death. In his Ephemeris, in the Sun’s position between the 1st and 2nd of July 1566, he had inserted a little cross and written in Latin: “Hic propre mors est” (Here is when I die). And in fact, on the morning of July 2nd he was found dead on the bench next to his bed. The expression on his face plainly conveyed the serenity he had felt while leaving for the other side of existence.

I just want to thank you for my natal chart. I honestly saw parts of me in each page that I read. I was really impressed at the parts where I had some barriers in my life that I eventually over came and was only able to get past them by surrendering and acknowledging that I did not have control over the situation, I had to let go and let God. There were some things that were inaccurate however I must say that had my life not taken the turns they did my life could very well have ended in those ways. Also, I was quite amazed at the references to drug and alcohol addiction. I have also overcome those obstacles, again by surrendering. I am now on a more spiritual journey. Thanks.
